help paying my bills

in response to babygirl79...   I'm not sure where you are located but there a 2 free cell phone programs available to most of the country. Safelink wireless 125 minutes a month free. Assurance wireless 250 a month free. Also there should be a program available through your local phone company that will pay 30.00 toward installation and only charge a small amount for the phone service every month. The program is called lifeline. Good Luck

What's on your heart and mind today?

in response to lovelyness...   Hi, I have a friend who receives disability (SSI) for a nervous disorder, and her husband also receives it for being bipolar.  You should be able to get advice from a disability attorney.  I do know you have to have seen a physician for the disorder within 3 months of applying for SSI and he has to be willing to state the condition is expected to last at least 12 months. Good luck.

What's on your heart and mind today?

in response to Tattianna...   Hun, I wish I had a hundred dollars to give you, but I like many others here just aren't that well off. A hundred dollars would mean as much to us as to you.  Hopefully you can find a job and save up for an apartment since you have several months before the baby is born.   I hope things will work out for you.

About bill39

in response to bill39...   I'm sorry about your situation.  I cannot understand why medicare or medicaid will not pay for a chair.  If you have the coverage all you need is your doctor to do an evaluation and say she medically needs the chair.  It is covered under part B medicare called durable medical equipment.  I only know this because I was told my dad could not get a chair but Medicare told me something different. They also told me to call them if I encountered any problem.  Once approved you are able to receive a new chair also every 5 years. I hope you can get her a chair. I know it will make all the difference.

About bill39

Bill, Does your wife have medical coverage?  If so medicare will pay 80% and quite possibly medicaid can pick up the rest.  We recently went through trying to find a motorized chair for my dad but he passed away a couple of weeks ago before we were able to locate one.   There were organiziations that lend equipment but none had motorized vehicles.   You could also try freecycle.org.  It is an online organization with groups all over the country.  People put in requests for things they need and others post ads offering things they no longer need.  It might be worth a try.  Be persistent and repost the ad often. You only need the right person to see the ad.

in response to sicere2010...   Well if it was me having to make that decision and I had family and friends in another state,  I think I would  prefer to be near family and friends.  Of course in the end it is your decision.  I'm sure you are trying to make the best choice because of your children.

Hopefully someone will be there tomorrow since it's Saturday and most offices are closed. You can always call on Monday. I really hope you can find a job and are able to get an apartment of your own.  You will feel so much better without all the stress and pressure of needing to find a place so quickly.  I'll say a prayer for you and your children.  Best of luck.  I'm sure things will change for the better.

This reply is for whoknew

I seem to be posting replies in the wrong place. I apologize if you haven't seen it before.

in response to whoknew...   Thank you.  I'm sure you are right about the law regarding tenant eviction in California, but this girl is here in Florida.  To the best of my knowledge if you have a place of residence you cannot be forced out onto the street. It must go through the court system.  They will in fact give you a certain length of time to move, but I understand  it can  be extended for up to 6 months.  The way the economy is,  6 months really isn't that long.  Thank you for responding

The least expensive route as far as I know would be ...affordabledentures.com.  They charge 365.00 for a complete set.  Other than that I have no  information.  Maybe someone else may know where they make them free of charge or  for less.  Good luck.

in response to MERCY2010...   Yes, as long as you have been living there they cannot throw you out.  It is your place of residence also.  If they admit they have been letting you live there they cannot just throw you out on the street.    I wondered about working at Day Labor, but then I wondered what would happen with your children.   I am very sorry for the stress you are under.  Hope you will get some answers from dept. of children and families tomorrow.  Hoping for the best for you.
